WE’RE SAVING THE NICKY - TOGETHER


The Nicky Alliance Centre is a unique facility run by Manchester Community Care to provide social facilities for older members of the community in a friendly and convivial environment.


For over 70 years the organisation has given its members a wide choice of activities and entertainment with hot lunches and transport to and from The Centre available.  Sadly, and despite its vital role The Nicky has been running on a deficit for a while and Covid-19 has taken us to the point of critical.

Without additional support, tragically we would have to close the doors forever. We are seeking to raise £500,000 to offset our operating deficit and secure its future.  We aim to try and achieve our goal through a crowd funding campaign which will protect the financial future of the centre for many years.

Our community has always been outstanding in its attempts to protect the Nicky but although donations were generous and, despite cost cutting where possible, they have been insufficient to cover the extent of losses. 

Following the board’s decision to remain open we enter a very exciting new phase for The Nicky and we will be ready to welcome members old and new back through our doors when it is safe to do. The decision to review this followed an overwhelming outpouring of support by the community demonstrating how much the Centre means to them.

However, we are still very much in need of funding in order to ensure that we are financially secure going forward, and we will be holding a crowd fundraising event in the very near future. We hope that those who are able to will donate to enable us to continue to provide The Nicky’s members with the excellent facilities so badly needed in our community.

We’re now turning to the community to help us in our hour of need. Together we will save The Nicky and secure its future for many years to come.
