Ability, founded 18 years ago, is currently Stamford Hill’s only day centre for young men with special needs. Their centre operates from 9-4, Monday to Thursday, and focuses on davening, learning and going to work. This provides the men with a strong sense of satisfaction and self empowerment. 


In addition to this full day program, Ability runs an after school club. The club entertains the men from 4-7 every day and enables the special needs boys to relax and unwind after a fulfilling day at the centre. The club also operates on Shabbos, Sundays, Bank Holidays and even Tisha B'av. 

Ability’s mission is to maximise their potential and provide these special young men with essential life skills. Families who struggled with the strain of having their special needs child coming home at the same time as the rest of their children, are now at peace knowing that their child is out for longer hours and is in a safe, heimishe and warm environment. 

Caring for men with special needs is a tremendous undertaking. With their needs so complex and being that they are completely dependent on others, the cost of running on a daily basis is astronomical.

This is the first time in our 18 years of establishment that ABILITY is asking for your support through a public campaign. It is only this year that we had to expand our services and provide a day centre in addition to our already established after-school program.
