We all need a break but for many disabled people and carers, a holiday is not just a break, it's a lifeline. The cost-of-living crisis and drastic cuts in local authority respite funding mean the prospect of a break is currently beyond the reach of many disabled people and carers. Instead of getting an urgently needed break, too many disabled people and carers are reaching breaking point.
Revitalise exists to ensure disabled people and their families have access to amazing holidays that are tailored to meet each individual guests’ personal care needs. These breaks offer disabled people and carers a chance to escape, relax and have fun. They also improve wellbeing and can help keep loved ones connected with each other and their wider networks.
But it's not easy for disabled people and their carers to get a break. 57% of disabled people can’t go on holidays due to access requirements and 4 in 10 unpaid carers have not had a break in more than a year.
Revitalise is responding to this challenge by launching its Give me a break appeal.
By giving whatever you can to the Give me a break appeal, you can help Revitalise subsidise as many breaks as possible and help more disabled people and carers have an urgently needed respite break.
