Until 12pm on Friday 29 July, Jewish Renaissance is hosting a crowdfunding campaign through Charity Extra as part of our 20th anniversary celebrations. All donations that come into us through our Charity Extra page during this 48-hour period will be doubled by match-funders, meaning for every £1 donated, Jewish Renaissance will receive £2.

During the last 20 years, JR has grown from being a small magazine run on a volunteer basis to the most widely read Jewish arts and culture quarterly publication in Europe, embedded in a professional organisation. During the last two years, we have both increased the numbers of our subscribers and lowered the age demographic to welcome a new audience, leading us to be hailed by InPublishing as one of the success stories of the pandemic.

The quality of what we do is being recognised internationally as we gain new institutional subscribers: recent additions include Harvard, the University of California and the National Library of Israel. Our online events are also attracting a global audience: hundreds of viewers watch our magazine launches and special talks, while our short courses, both online and in person, have a dedicated group of attendees.

As our audience grows, so does our ambition. We have far-reaching plans for the next few years, with regards to reporting, creating content and developing a new generation of emerging Jewish journalists and arts professionals. However, to do this we need financial support. Covid hit our other income sources hard – with cancelled tours, plus reduced advertising and philanthropy, our reserves are very low. So, to carry on for the next 20 and support the future of Jewish culture, we need your help. Please donate whatever you can afford.

Every penny given will be put to good use in making sure our work has a depth and resilience that will endure. The future of Jewish culture is in your hands.
