The Second Seder Kollel: a magnet kollel that draws yungerleit from all over the globe.

In the heart of Yerushalayim, R’ Shragi Kallus and R’ Yitzchok Boehm have built a kollel for avreichim who want to shteig in the daled amos shel halacha. Now in its 14th year, the Second Seder Kollel is a place for mastery of halacha in a broad range of topics, from basar v’chalav and hilchos Shabbos to ribbis and mezuzah.  This unique place of learning and growth is designed for yungerleit to gain both halachic knowledge and hashkafic clarity.

Avreichim in the kollel are privileged to have each day’s learning bookended by shiurim from the roshei kollel. R’ Shragi’s engaging daily shiur starts the day’s learning, followed by delving into the maareh mekomos, and rounded off with R’ Yitzchok’s wide-ranging daily shiur. The daily learning culminates in monthly review tests that are both comprehensive and intense. The avreichim gain from both the independent chavrusa learning and from the direction and vast knowledge of two world-class roshei kollel. 

Rav Yitzchok Boehm is an esteemed posek known for his breadth and depth of Torah knowledge. His fluency in all areas of halacha (including choshen mishpat) is reflected in his astonishing ability to answer questions on any topic in Torah and halacha, and is the reason he is frequently called “a walking Otzar Hachochma'' by kollel members. As R’ Shragi says, “If R’ Yitzchok doesn’t know the answer, nobody knows the answer.” 

As a baki in Shas, with shiurim featured on Torah Anytime and Shas Illuminated, R’ Yitzchok is an outstanding role model of hasmada within the kollel. R’ Yitzchok is a former rosh kollel at Kollel Linas Hatzedek for the Center for Jewish Values and he continues to field choshen mishpat shailos at the Kav Halacha. He has written kuntreisim on various specialized halacha topics, such as halachos pertaining to nursing home administration.

Rav Shragi Kallus’s dynamic daily shiurim provide the avreichim with foundational knowledge on the depth of the halachic process. R’Shragi’s ability to combine halacha and hashkafa is masterful and provides clear direction for anyone seeking to live a Torah life. As the Rav of Kehillas Imrei Phi, and a rebbi in Yeshivas Torah Ore, Yeshivas Aderes HaTorah, Yeshivas Beis Yisroel, and many other yeshivos, he engages audiences of all kinds with an appreciation and understanding of halacha l’maaseh. R’ Shragi gives a weekly halacha shiur to the Agudah (via Zoom) and is one of the main magidei shiur at the Mir Yarchei Kallah in Yerushalayim as well as at the Summer Yarchei Kallah in England. R' Shragi has given over 14,000 shiurim over the past 13 years, many of which can be found on TorahAnytime and Shas Illuminated, and his shiurim are currently being transcribed into books.
