The scale of the refugee crisis facing the world right now is almost incomprehensible. 100 million people are estimated to have left their homes, fleeing war, persecution, famine, drought and disaster. Major conflicts in Ukraine and Afghanistan alone have displaced over 15 million people in less than a year.

Helping refugees is a part of everything we do: fleeing war and disasters; refugees fleeing violence in Syria and Afghanistan are trying to build new lives in the UK and need a helping hand into employment.

We are using our expertise to support refugees from all backgrounds. We are the largest provider of employment services to Afghans, Syrians and other resettled refugees in the UK. Having operated in Ukraine for 30 years, we are now a lead agency for Ukrainian resettlement, matching refugees with hosts through the Homes for Ukraine scheme. We are now welcoming Ukrainians onto our Specialist Training and Employment Programme.

World Jewish Relief has a proud history of working with refugees. We were founded in 1933 to instigate the rescue of Jewish refugees from Nazi-occupied Europe, including the Kindertransport and the rescue of ‘The Boys’, child Holocaust survivors who were brought to the UK for rehabilitation and to rebuild their lives. Ever since, refugees have been at the core of World Jewish Relief’s work.

As the global refugee crisis becomes even more acute, we are uniquely placed to help refugees from all walks of life in the UK and around the world. Our services are more in demand than ever, as families are fleeing Ukraine and Afghanistan daily, with no idea when they will be able to return home.
