This is an unprecedented time for Jewish students in campuses across the UK.
Since October 7th, Jewish students on UK campuses have been facing unprecedented hostility. They have been confronted with overt antisemitism and ferocious anti-Zionism on a daily basis, leading to a truly toxic and threatening campus environment. This crisis has highlighted the critical need for University Jewish Chaplaincy’s unwavering and meaningful support and representation.
University Jewish Chaplaincy is the primary Jewish charity physically on campus, offering support to over 8,500 Jewish students in over 100 universities across the UK.
Our mission is clear: to ensure a safe, vibrant, and nurturing environment for every Jewish student, fostering a sense of community and belonging that enriches and connects them to their Judaism, their history and their future. In today’s climate, this has been challenging, but our Chaplains have been there on campus every day, doing all they can to be part of the solution, ensuring Jewish life can be lived proudly on campuses across the UK.
Our Response:
We couldn’t be prouder to report that we have had over 18,910 student interactions this academic year.
Throughout this crisis, Jewish students have been caught in the midst of violence, protest, intimidation and abuse across UK universities, it has come from their peers and at times it has been led by their professors. Together with the students our Chaplains have been on the front line fighting back and have sadly supported 1600 students with incidents of antisemitism over this period.
Please help us to be part of the solution and support Chaplaincy’s CRISIS on CAMPUS campaign and give as generously as you can to ensure that Jewish students on campuses across the UK can live their lives, proudly, securely and without fear.
