'קענווי איילענד', א קליין שטעטל אין די גלילות פון לונדון, איז געגרינדעט געווארן תשע"ו מיט 3 משפחות וואס האבן זין ארויסגעצויגן פון סטעמפארד היל. זייט דעמאלטס האבן מיר זיך שוין ב"ה צווואקסן צו  איבער 140 משפחות קע"ה, און די נאכפראגע ארויסצוקומען וואוינען האלט אין איין שטייגן.

קענווי איז געגרינדעט געווארן צו דערלייכטערן די דירות קריזיס וואס פלאגט די היימישע ציבור אין לאנדאן. אונז זענען זייער דאנקבאר פאר אונזערע פאמיליע און פריינט פאר די חיזוק און שטיצע וואס האט אונז געברענגט ביז אהער.

די קהלה אין קענווי האט בליענדע מוסדות מיט איבער 400 קינדער קע"ה, א ישיבה קטנה, ווי אויך געפונט זיך דא אין שטאט די וועלט בארימטע 'ישיבה גדולה לוצערן'. מיר האבן א צענטראלע ביהמ"ד מיט א מנינים צענטער און נאך דריי שולן אין אנדערע געגנטער, א פולשטענדיגע צוגעשטעלטע כשר'ע גראסערי, מיט אלע אנדערע געברויכן וואס א אידישע שטאט דארף האבן.

איינע פון די הויפט פריאריטעטן אין א אידישע שטאט איז א מקוה. די וואס האבן שוין באזוכט אונזער שטעטל ווייסן אז די "מקוה פראיעקט" וואלט שוין לאנג צוריק געדארפט פאסירן. מען האט אריין געלייגט אסאך ישוב הדעת כדי אנצוקומען ווי מען האלט יעצט. ב"ה אז אין די לעצטע יאר צייט איז מען געגאנגען פון חלום צו ריאליטעט ווען די בנין המקוה שטייט שוין בתפארתו, שוין אינגאנצן געטיילט און די פלאמבינג און קאנטראלס ווערן אין די יעצטיגע טעג אינסטאלירט, די פורניטשור ווערן שוין באשטעלט, און מיר האפן בעז"ה צו קענען עפענען אויף ר"ח אלול הבעל"ט! אבער  מיר דארפן האבן אייער הילף צו פארענדיגן דעם 1.5-מיליאן-פונט פראיעקט. ב"ה, מיר האבן שוין געשאפן 1.25 מיליאן, און יעצט, מיט אייער הארציגע הילף, וועלן מיר קענען שאפן די לעצטע £250,000 בכדי צו קענען עפענען אויף צייט.

אין די נאמען פון אלע תושבים ווי אויך משפחות וואס גייען אהערקומען וואוינען - מעגליך אייערע קינדער, נאנטע און פריינט - באדאנקן מיר זיך פון די טיפעניש פון אונזער הארץ און וואונטשן אייך אלע ברכות און ישועות וואס א מקוה ברענגט מיט זיך. אמן כי"ר.

Canvey Island Kehilla was established in 2016, beginning with the first three families moving from Stamford Hill to Canvey. Since then, it has grown to over 140 families, and demand and interest continue to increase. Canvey is very much a London project, created to support the expanding London Kehillos. We are immensely grateful for the ongoing support from our families and friends in London and beyond, which has allowed us to bring the Canvey Kehilla to its current glory.

Canvey has Mosdos with over 400 children (KEH), a Yeshiva Ketana, and hosts the world-renowned Luzern Yeshiva. There is a main shul and minyanim centre, three further shuls for different areas, a kosher shop, and all other needs that every Yiddisher Kehilla requires. All of this is the fruit of your support, for which we are deeply grateful.

At the centre of Yiddishkeit is Kedushas Yisroel. For those who have visited Canvey and seen the current Shul Mikva, this campaign is long overdue. The 'mikvah project' is crucial for the continued prosperity of the Kehillah. It also includes an indoor Keilim mikvah. The plans have been meticulously crafted, demolition work is finished, foundations laid, elevation complete, ventilation and roof furring are done and 3 months of tilling works are coming to an end next week.

We are diligently working now to the project’s imminent completion. To minimise the costs to our benefactors, we are managing the construction 'in-house'. Rather than tendering the entire project, which would have cost over £2 million, we are handling it step by step with volunteers who have professional expertise. This approach is projected to reduce the cost to approximately £1,500,000. Professional subcontractors are engaged at every stage to ensure quality.
