Hagers Kollel

Golders Green Kollel HaRabbonim
Established 50 years ago by Rav Gershon Hager
shlita, Golders Green Kollel HaRabbonim was the
first Torah centre in North West London. The Kollel
has contributed greatly towards the growth of Torah
and Yiddishkeit in our area and we hope you will
take the time to read about some of our
achievements.
The importance to a town of having a place of pure,
intensive Torah study is today appreciated by most
communities around the world. Golders Green
Kollel HaRabbonim has facilitated this goal and has
succeeded, b’siyato dishmayo, in creating a thriving
Beis Hamedrash where the sound of Torah can be
heard from the early hours of the morning until late
at night.
The current Chabura comprises local avreichim
who were previously learning in some of the
foremost yeshivos and kollelim in Eretz Yisroel and
were drawn to the Kollel by its high standard of
learning. The regular intake of new avreichim
joining the existing members of the Kollel ensures
that the chabura maintains its freshness and vitality.
In addition to the full-time members, a number of
other avreichim learn with the Kollel during either
the morning or afternoon seder and are integral
members of the Chabura.
Besides the members of the Kollel itself, many
other people learn in the Beis Hamedrash on a
daily basis. The Kollel provides a vibrant place of
learning for many local Rabbonim, baalei batim,
schoolboys, students and other avreichim.  The
vibrancy of the atmosphere and the extensive
yedias haTorah of the Kollel members provides
tremendous benefit to all.  The Beis Hamedrash
also serves as a base for numerous visiting talmidei
chachomim, who spend many hours in the Kollel
during their time in London.
In addition to its role as a place of Torah learning,
the Kollel takes much pride in its unparalleled
success in placing mechanchim and marbitzei
Torah to serve within the kehilla.  A number of
former members of the Kollel have been appointed
as rabbonim of local shuls and others have become
maggidei shiur at various yeshivos and seminaries
around the world. The majority of avreichim have
entered the field of chinuch in local schools and
continue to teach and inspire their talmidim in their
respective mosdos. Members and former members
of the Kollel regularly give shiurim in local shuls and
mosdos and for the popular “Torah Way”
programme.
