Whitefield Community Kollel: A Living Makom Torah in the Heart of the Community
Whitefield Community Kollel was founded in 1990 by Rabbi Jonathan Guttentag שליט״א with the vision of establishing an in-house Jewish learning academy — an authentic makom Torah — that would serve as both a spiritual powerhouse and a communal resource. For over three decades, the Kollel has been a bridge between the world of Torah and the Anglo-Jewish community, promoting harmony through a shared commitment to Jewish growth rooted in Torah values.
Together with its sister institution, Kollel Nachlas Dovid — also established in 1990 — the Kollel has been engaged in its dual mission of ללמוד וללמד, to learn and to teach. Dozens of distinguished avreichim have graduated from its programme, enriched in their own Torah learning and trained to meet the needs of the wider kehilla by sharing Torah with clarity, care, and conviction.
Since 2020, both kollelim have been hosted by Shomrei Hadas Prestwich for their sidrei limmud and chavrusa learning, deepening their presence and accessibility to the wider community.
