Dear friends and family

Please support us in this appeal

We are members of Chigwell and Hainault Shul and Colin serves on the shul council, whereas Nicole often serves cholent on a Shabbos!

The Shul really needs major refurbishment to bring it into the 21st century, not only as a place of prayer but for the whole community to come together in a safe and modern environment.   Please take a look at our videos and you will get an idea of what we are trying to achieve

None of this will be possible without your support, please help us realise this dream by donating whatever you can to our Shul refurbishment project.  Your donations on during this campaign will be doubled by our generous benefactors and all amounts large or small are really appreciated.

Many thanks

Nicole and Colin

As you can see from the videos above, Chigwell and Hainault Synagogue are planning to redevelop the shul, hall and all aspects of the building which the club use regularly.

The club want to help raise money in particular so the kitchen can be named and dedicated to the late Edna Schneider, who committed her time to help run the kitchen, not just during club evenings and schemes but also for the ladies guild, JACS, luncheons, Shabbat and so much more.

Edna devoted her life to the shul and club, almost always being found in the kitchen making biscuits, sandwiches, cakes, teaching the children to bake and pouring and drinking the wine on Shabbat.

No matter how much you can afford, we ask if you can donate please do so and also share our video and donation link. Thank you for taking the time to read this and not only supporting us but helping US support the next generation

The Sugar Family

Your donations will be doubled, by match funding pound for pound, by the incredible generosity of the Sugar family. We thank Lord Alan and Lady Ann Sugar and all the Sugar family, in particular Daniel, for their amazing support. We could not do this project without you.

Please help Chigwell and Hainault Synagogue  achieve its vision - to make the Shul a community centre, a family home, so that whatever your age, gender or level of observance you will feel welcomed by its modern look, inclusive atmosphere and the thriving community within.  This campaign aims to raise £1.2million in 36 hours

There is an urgent and obvious need to improve the buildings within which we pray, learn, play, and celebrate. Our project aims to add new areas to the Shul, repurpose others, and brighten up the whole estate, so that we can provide a building fit for a growing, successful, and welcoming community.

Our buildings are outdated and no longer fit for purpose. With our young demographic, large and still growing membership and educational events attracting world-class speakers, we need a building that reflects our vibrancy and engages more of our members more of the time, ensuring an exciting future for our community. A synagogue is not just a place for prayer but a meeting place (Beit Kenesset). Now more than ever, as we come out of COVID-19, our Beit Kenesset needs to reflect that. We propose to refurbish all parts of the site, make significant improvements to the layout and facilities, and link the two buildings with a beautiful new foyer. The effect of this will be to provide a modern bright environment with updated and increased facilities and amenities in a much safer space.

Your donations will be doubled, by match funding pound for pound, by the incredible generosity of the Sugar family.  We thank Lord Alan and Lady Ann Sugar and all the Sugar family, in particular Daniel, for their amazing support.  We could not do this project without you.

Whatever you can afford to give, it will be doubled in value and drive us more quickly to our overall goal.

Whether you are a current member of the shul, a former member who has moved to pastures new, or have friends and family who are members of our growing community, please help us however you can.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to welcoming you at our Shul
