In Kind Direct is an amazing charity. I am proud to be a trustee and we urgently need to raise funds to support the vital work it does in so many areas, but particularly in the area of hygiene poverty. It is incomprehensible that people have to reuse nappies or use one bar of soap to wash themselves, their children, their clothes, their floors and their home. Please join me to help the many people living in poverty, struggling to maintain their dignity and self-respect. Thank you.

As many of you know, I have been a trustee of In Kind Direct since 2010 and have had the privilege of being Chair since 2017.

We have an incredible charity, founded by His Majesty King Charles III in 1997 and we believe that everyone deserves access to life’s essentials and no usable product should go to waste. Sadly millions of parents across the UK are making impossible choices whether to heat, eat or keep clean, which is why we are launching this much needed 72-hour emergency appeal ahead of National Hygiene Week.

Every penny we raise will provide hygiene packs to families (£16 would support 10 families, £160 would support 100 families). And all donations will be DOUBLED!

I appreciate that everyone has their individual chosen charities that they support - but on this occasion, I would be hugely grateful for any support you are able to give so we can together truly make a real, practical difference to many UK families throughout the UK this autumn.

I find it upsetting and distressing to know that in 2024/25, many people cannot afford to look after their basic hygiene. Often it's a choice of staying clean or putting food on the table. It should not be like that for anyone living in the UK and I want to do my bit to help alleviate the suffering for as many people as I can.

Sadly this is the daily reality for 10 million people in the UK.  Many people living in hygiene poverty will feel too embarrassed to ask for help, but they need your support. You can make a difference by supporting our Hygiene Poverty Emergency appeal.

We need your help to raise £80,000 to support 50,000 families living in hygiene poverty in the UK who are making impossible choices every day to eat, heat or keep their family clean. With your support we can distribute the essential products they urgently need.

Just £10 could support 6 families with hygiene packs, which contain essential products like toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and period products. Not only keeping people clean and well but boosting self-esteem, and giving people the confidence to leave their homes and go to school or work.
