Jewish Blind & Disabled (JBD) is the only Jewish charity that provides people with physical disabilities or vision impairment aged 18 upwards, with accessible housing and support so that they lead the best life they can, enabling independence, dignity and choice. This is achieved through our specially adapted mobility apartments located in our 7 unique supportive developments across NW London, Essex and Hertfordshire, or within their own home in the wider community.

We currently house 360 tenants aged 25 to over 100 years old. 24/7 onsite House Managers, together with alarm systems installed in each flat and throughout the communal areas in each building, provide additional peace of mind to tenants and their families in case of an emergency.

Outside the developments, JBD is expanding its services to support members of the wider community. Our Independent Living Advisory Service, an Occupational Therapist led service offers advice and recommendations that enables people with physical disabilities or vision impairment to remain safe in their own home. We have expanded our support group offering that connects people living with sight loss to each other whilst offering them information and support. We deliver education sessions to groups in the community, including synagogues, to advance their understanding and knowledge about living with a disability and our schools programme educates thousands of school children every year.

The demand for their services has never been greater, with over 135 households on our housing waiting list. This figure continues to rise every month. This 36-hour appeal is vital to ensure that JBD can build for the future and be there for everyone who needs our services when they have nowhere else to turn.
