Our Kollel was founded by several avreichem who had returned to Monsey after spending several years in Eretz Yisroel.

They sought to maximize their final few Kollel years, by using the opportunity to prepare for their entry into the workforce. Engaging in a practical limud, such as Halachah – a discipline that is real-world and tangible – was seen as the perfect segue to infuse kedushah into that new horizon. This grassroots movement materialized first as a second seder Kollel, and has now become a full day kollel.

Fast forward a year and a half, and the kollel has besiyata diShamaya blossomed and grown exponentially, with over thirty yungerleit who presently call Kollel Basi Yisroel their home. In its first three years the Kollel has completed the entire Hilchos Niddah, and Hilchos Basar Bi’Chalav – with test – a truly monumental achievement.

The yungerleit of Kollel Bais Yisroel are shteiging and growing and using their time to focus and prepare for their next stage of Avodas Hashem.
