β€˜More Than One Life’ - Mental ill-health is one of the biggest public health challenges facing the UK today.

Behind every statistic is a real person with a story, a family and a future that deserves hope.

For almost 150 years, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board has been there for our community, providing practical support, compassionate care and a safe place for people who have nowhere else to turn. As we approach our 150th anniversary in February 2028, our commitment is stronger than everβ€”but so is the demand.

Our community may be smaller than it once was, yet the need for support continues to grow. People are living longer, mental health challenges are increasing, and more families than ever rely on our services.

We know that the rising cost of living means every household is making difficult decisions. But if organisations like ours disappear, there is nowhere else in Leeds providing this unique combination of mental health support, community connection and specialist understanding.

Every donation keeps our doors open, funds our support workers, maintains our community centre and ensures that nobody must face life's challenges alone.

Because every person who walks through our door’s matters.

And every donation creates a ripple effect that reaches far beyond one individual.

The Reality - Mental health in the UK

  • 1 in 5 adults are experiencing a probable mental health problem.
  • 1 in 5 children are experiencing a probable mental health problem.
  • 2 million people are currently on mental health waiting lists.
  • Β£300 billion is the estimated annual cost of mental ill-health in England.

The Difference Your Donation Makes at Leeds Jewish Welfare Board

  • Over 200 people are being supported at any one time.
  • 95 people currently receive dedicated mental health support, from crisis intervention to long-term care.
  • Around 4 new referrals are received every week.
  • Our Mental Health Service has grown from 3 to 4 specialist staff since 2023, with 11 Community Support Workers supporting people every day.
  • Since 7 October, the need for emotional support, safety, guidance and community connection has increased significantly. For many people, Leeds Jewish Welfare Board and the MAZCC have become an essential safe space where they can receive professional support and simply be with others who understand.

Donate today. Double your impact. Change more than one life.

Thank you from all our service users, staff and volunteers for your donation.
