Just 3 short years ago, as the UK went into its first lockdown, Chabad of Greenwich and the Docklands opened its virtual doors. Beginning with zoom meetings, socially distanced meals and outdoor services, we have now Thank Gd grown into a vibrant, supportive and warm community that aims to cater for every Jew in the area, in addition to benefiting all residents of the area. We have now rented a Chabad Center in Greenwich, and host Friday night dinners, Torah classes, monthly Shabbat services, JUDA Sunday school, young adult events, Bar/Bat Mitzvah classes, events for women, pastoral services and more. We work together with other lay leaders to ensure Jewish services are available for those visiting and working in Canary Wharf and the Excel Center, including Mincha, holiday services, kosher food and more.
Your generous donation will go towards:
1. Continuing our current activities
2. Opening a kitchen at Chabad. To be used for:
a. Cooking for Chabad events
b. A Kosher delivery service for those living, working and visiting Greenwich, Canary Wharf and the Excel Center.
c. Cooking classes and volunteer opportunities
3. Creating a new Young Jewish Professional chapter in Canary Wharf. This will have an incredible array of events, lectures and networking opportunities for young Jewish people living and working in the area.
As the only Jewish community in the area, it is so incredibly important that Chabad of Greenwich and the Docklands has the ability to continue and grow our Jewish community and services. It is vital that we are able to provide services and events for every Jew in the area. We estimate that there are between 1000 - 2000 Jewish people in this area, and we must have the resources to reach each and every one of them.
