I have been a supporter of MDA since I was appointed Dinner Chairman about 20 years ago.
With the assistance of Eli Benson, our late chief executive, we developed a formula of having a top class musical evening and subsequently a comedy evening. This enabled us to raise millions of pounds for this amazing charity and always left a smile on our guests faces wanting for more.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to change our fund-raising focus. I do hope that you will enjoy our evening and donate generously. Whilst MDA immediately brings to mind ambulances, it provides many other services such as support of Holocaust survivors, a wish ambulance and just as important the supply and research of blood for every hospital in Israel.
My target for this day is to raise £50,000 for rooms in the new Blood Centre much of which will be underground, the old one being in range of rockets coming from Gaza and ,if hit, would be catastrophic.
I thank you for reading this and for you generosity.
Keep well and safe in these strange times.
Nicholas
For the last few years, groups of highly committed trekkers have hiked through the desert heat in Israel to raise vital funds for MDA. These incredible teams have already raised funds for a Medicycle, an Ambulance, an Intensive Care Ambulance and vital funds for the rebuilding of an ambulance station.
This year we had planned to walk even further, through Israel into Jordan and raise even more. Sadly, COVID19 put a stop to those plans. This awful disease prevented vital fundraising activity, just when fundraising was needed the most.
We are already planning the 2021 Trek, but today we ask for your help in fundraising in this crucial year for emergency healthcare.
Please support us in any way you can, and we promise to put in the hard yards in again once the pandemic has been beaten.
Thanks

“Acts of kindness never die”, Rabbi Sacks z”l – a Bloodmobile in memory of an inspirational leader.
The Jewish News initiated a crowdfunding campaign with MDA UK to purchase a Bloodmobile in memory of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks z"l.
We are also delighted thar Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld and Western Marble Arch Synagogue have lent their support to this campaign.
Rabbi Sacks was an ardent supporter of Israel and a champion for Magen David Adom. On the day he was ennobled in 2009, Lord Sacks spoke at the MDA UK Fundraising Dinner and gave what was a stirring and memorable appeal.
MDA UK Board Member and then Dinner Chair, Nicholas Springer, recalls, “He attended our annual dinner on the day he was introduced to the House of Lords. He delivered the best appeal speech we ever heard. He is sorely missed by both within and outside our community and the bloodmobile we are dedicating in is memory will be a fitting tribute.”
Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld of Marble Arch Synagogue, where Lord Sacks was once the minister, described Rabbi Sacks as “our moral compass and spokesman. Donating to MDA for this vehicle in his name is a wonderful way to honour what he held dear – the sanctity of life. As Rabbi Sacks himself wrote: “Grant strength to those who see to the needs of the injured and sick, and open our hearts in prayer and our hands in generosity, so that by our actions we may bring comfort, healing and support.”
Daniel Burger, Chief Executive of Magen David Adom UK stated, “The global Magen David Adom family is honoured to be part of this fundraising campaign. Nothing will give us more pride than seeing a bloodmobile on the streets of Israel bearing the name of Rabbi Lord Sacks and saving lives.”
