Nestled in the heart of Yerushalayim is a group of kollelim under the banner of Mosdos Zos Lyaakov. We have 50 yungeleit learning a full day in our beautiful Beis Medrash on Rechov Chanah, in addition to over 100 yungeleit learning in our smaller kollelim — night kollelim and Friday/Shabbos kollelim. Our yungeleit are handpicked for their cheishek to learn with depth and breadth. Together, these heilige yungeleit create a heartwarming picture in our Beis Medrash each and every day. The fire of passion and devotion to learning surrounds all those who have the pleasure of entering.

The UK can take pride in having sourced us with many of our treasured yungeleit — and we return that pride with nachas, as so many of them come back to the UK after their years in Eretz Yisroel. They return, of course, having soaked in the ים התלמוד in our Beis Medrash, groomed to carry back a strong and vibrant spirit of Torah. They go on to disseminate that spirit through leadership positions across the UK, or simply by living their elevated lives and inspiring all those around them.

We are now reaching out to our beloved UK kehilla at a particularly critical moment. As our yungeleit are paid in shekel, the dramatic decline of both the Pound and the Dollar against the shekel has dealt a serious blow to the kollel's budget — stretching every contribution thinner and placing real strain on our ability to sustain these precious yungeleit at the level they deserve.
