Your financial support enables Neshomo, an independent Jewish charity, to provide long term support for members of the Greater Manchester Jewish Community suffering from moderate to severe mental illness. Neshomo's clinical team and its trained volunteers are currently supporting over 70 clients and their families. The NHS has withdrawn all funding and hence Neshomo is totally dependent on the donations it receives from the Jewish community to maintain its services. 100% of all donations go to supporting this vital service so please give generously.

The past 12 months have been particularly difficult for Neshomo with the NHS withdrawing its financial support due to its own lack of funds; despite Neshomo showing how well we are able to support people in the Jewish community suffering with severe mental illness.

Neshomo has managed to keep going mainly due to the generous support you and others like you have given us. As the mental health state of our community worsens, demand for Neshomo's services continues to grow and we now urgently need your financial support in order to maintain our services to members of the Manchester Jewish community. We are asking you to support us transform the lives of Jewish individuals and their families who desperately need our help and care to cope with their mental illness.

Help Bring Hope to Many in Our Community

Since 2015, Neshomo has supported Jewish adults and their families across Greater Manchester facing the challenge of long-term mental health illness. We step in when short-term help isn’t enough, offering real, long lasting support.

What We Do
We provide a lifeline to those struggling alone. Our support is practical, personal, and ongoing, helping people feel connected, empowered, and hopeful again.

Our services include:

  • Befriending – volunteers offering consistent emotional support
  • Social prescribing – connecting people with meaningful activities
  • Community events – reducing isolation and building resilience
  • Support signposting – guiding people to the right services

Why Your Help Matters
Right now, over 80 people and their families rely on Neshomo every week, from young adults to older grandparents.

With your help, over the next 12 months, we can:

  • Offer over 2,600 hours of support a year
  • Continue to train and support 70+ dedicated volunteers
  • Reach more individuals and families who are currently suffering alone and in silence

But we can’t do it alone. We need to raise £60,000 to continue this vital work.

Real Stories, Real Impact

(Names & identifiable information have been changed to maintain confidentiality)
David, 25, was isolated and unemployed. With help from a Neshomo befriender, he found purpose and a job — and even began dating again.
Miriam, 27, overcame postnatal mental health struggles thanks to Neshomo and local partners.
Michael, 54, helped his brother reconnect with family and rebuild trust after years of silence.

Be the reason someone gets back on their feet.

Every donation helps change a life.
