Stephen and I know only too well the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a family.
Having been part of the ‘Chai family’ for more than 20 years, I have the privilege of seeing first-hand the difference we can make day in day out. This support is more critical than ever as Covid has created an additional layer of complexity with late diagnosis and delays in cancer treatments, resulting in people coming to Chai at much later stages, often requiring complex surgeries and treatments. Our counselling service alone has risen by 32%.
Sadly, the figures will only increase in the coming months with the predicted surge already happening.
We need to continue to support ALL those who turn to us.
With no statutory funding, and an annual expenditure budget of £3.5m we need to raise £1.8m in 36 hours. Your support is needed more than ever!
All donations will be matched.
Please give as generously as you can to enable us to continue to provide our specialised services to everyone affected by a cancer diagnosis in the community.

It’s no coincidence that this campaign is happening in the week of Chanuka, the Festival of Lights, as Chai’s mission is to bring light into the darkness that follows a cancer diagnosis. This has been the cornerstone of Chai from the time it was first established 31 years ago by my inspiring mother Frances Winegarten z”l and Susan Shipman. Our warmth and all-embracing hug is coupled with expertise and professionalism in the delivery of over 65 services from 11 centres across the UK and in our clients’ homes.

The impact of Covid on the cancer community has been seismic and there is no doubt that Chai is needed now more than ever. Many cancer patients were not able to access their GPs, procedures and surgeries were delayed, all of which has led to more complex and serious treatments.

We at Chai are meeting this challenge head on, with a deep commitment and determination to do everything we can to strengthen and support each and every person who turns to us.

But in order to do so, we need you to partner with us, both individually and collectively as a community. We feel so very blessed that you have always walked by our side and with no statutory funding we are reliant on donations.

So I ask that you please give as generously as you can and join us - One Big Community for Chai - to provide the specialised cancer support our community so desperately needs.

With heartfelt thanks for the tangible difference you will make.

Chai Cancer Care is an amazing charity that helps so many people navigate their cancer journey and they now need your support.
Throughout the pandemic Chai has continued to be there for their 3,500 clients, providing specialised services via skype, zoom and telephone. In total, since April 2020, they have delivered more than 20,000 counselling sessions and children’s therapies, an increase of 32% on the previous year.
At the same time Chai has not been able to hold so many of their regular fundraising events so this campaign is vital. Over the next 36 hours, they need to raise £1.8million to make sure that everyone who turns to them can benefit from their expertise and care.
Donations to Chai will be matched by a number of very generous donors and every donation will make a difference.
Please give as generously as you can.
Thank you!

We are proud to be supporting the One Big Community for Chai Campaign and want to thank you so much for your support.
Whilst Chai’s high level of expertise and care was something we knew about in the abstract, we have recently learnt, on a far more personal level just how wonderful this organisation is. From the extensive range of services it offers, to the way in which they are delivered - with huge care, concern and sensitivity.
Many thanks for your support of this campaign which will allow Chai to continue to do the outstanding work it does.
Much love, Naomi and Mark Nevies and Family xx

Like so many others, my life has sadly been impacted by cancer. That is why I am very proud to be a Trustee of Chai Cancer Care, the Jewish community’s dedicated cancer support organisation. Chai helps so many people navigate their cancer journey and they now need our support.

Throughout the pandemic, Chai has continued to be there for their 3,500 clients, providing specialised services via skype, zoom and telephone. The impact of the pandemic on cancer diagnosis and treatment has been shocking, so it won’t surprise you to learn that the demand for its services has surged. In total, since April 2020, Chai has delivered more than 20,000 counselling sessions and children’s therapies, an increase of 32% on the previous year. At the same time, Chai has not been able to hold so many of their regular fundraising events, so this fundraising campaign is vital. Over the next 36 hours, Chai needs to raise £1.8million to make sure that everyone who turns to them can benefit from their expertise and care.

Donations to Chai will be matched by a number of very generous donors, so whatever you’re able to donate will be doubled. Gift Aid will further increase the funds receivable by Chai.

Every donation, regardless of size, will make a difference. Thank you for supporting Chai in any way you can.

Thank you!

Chai's Loyal Supporters who wish to remain anonymous

Chai is currently supporting 3,500 cancer patients and their loved ones, providing 65 specialised services from 11 centres across the UK as well as a Home Support Service.

Every day Chai sees the added emotional and physical impact of Covid 19 on our clients. Many could not access their GPs and their screening, procedures and surgery were either delayed or postponed. This has meant they need more complex and urgent treatment.

Since lockdown, Chai has seen a 32% increase in demand for counselling services alone with over 27,400 appointments in total having taken place across the UK. As we all know, sadly, the pandemic will continue to impact on the cancer community for the forseeable future.

Last year we launched a 36-hour online, matched-funding campaign and raised enough money to run our services for almost one year. That is why we are back. Again.

Our anticipated operating budget for 2022 is £3.5million. And this will undoubtedly increase year-on-year. With no statutory funding we need you to partner with us, both individually and collectively as a community.

Thank you for making a tangible difference and being part of One BIG Community for Chai.
