I have worked at Keech Hospice for a number of years and am inspired every day by the families that we strive to help, I want us to be around for as long hospice care is needed. I've decided to Reach out for Keech as part of this campaign, please help me reach my target to help more patients every day.

I currently worked for Keech and see the positive impact our care has on patients and their families. Following the admission of a dear friend for end of life care last year, I have seen first hand the support we can offer each other when is matters most.

My mum was in,Keech back in 2001/2 and passed in the Jan. Over a number of years have done fundraising but more in the last 6 years mostly because my Son Ian started to volunteer for absolutely everything and joined him in his quest to help. Sadly Ian was taken suddenly in 2021 and since then have raised money and volunteered to keep his good work and legacy alive. Keech is an amazing place and their work and dedication is second to none from Nursing staff to office staff and every other member of staff

For more than 455 years The Harpur Trust has been inspiring and supporting the people of Bedford. Today the charity aims to promote education, support Bedford residents who are sick or in need, hardship or distress and to provide recreation facilities to help improve people’s Lives.

We’re a hospice full of life! Providing free, specialist care for adults in Luton and Bedfordshire, and children from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes living with a life-limiting illness.

Our Care supports patients to live pain and symptom free, to spend untroubled time with their loved ones, to understand what’s happening to them, to stay out of hospital and to make the most of the time they have.

We’re proud to be rated outstanding for our care services by the Care Quality Commission. You might be surprised to hear our care isn’t just provided at our hospice sites in Luton and Bedford, but in hospitals, schools, care or family home – we’re there, wherever our support is needed the most.

We need to raise over £6.3million every year (that’s £17,000 everyday) to keep providing care and support to our community. We must continue to be creative and introduce new ways of generating the 70% of funding we need to keep supporting patients and their loved ones at the most difficult of times.

By being part of our REACH OUT FOR KEECH appeal, you will be helping us REALLY make the difference when it matters the most.

Thanks to a wonderful group of early pledgers, any donations made during the 48 hour sprint will have twice the impact!  That means your support will go even further, helping to ensure that we keep providing support and care where and when it is needed.

Thank you from all of us here at Keech.

A donation of £11 could help a family meet and talk with other families who also have a relative with a life-limiting condition.

A donation of £100 could provide a family with a memorable day out or could provide materials to make memory boxes for special keepsakes.

A donation of £48 could pay for a session of music therapy to help a patient and their loved ones communicate difficult thoughts and feelings without the need for words.

A donation of £74 could help someone receive specialist nursing care which enables them to remain comfortable and pain-free at the end of their life.

A donation of £28 could help a child who has a life-limiting condition to play and enjoy themselves in a safe caring environment.

Quotes from our patients and their families :

Keech for us acts like an anchor, we feel stable and know we have the support we need for our son. Nurse visits, hospice visits and for our eldest daughter; Sparklers. She feels like she can have fun and for a moment take the pressure off having a sibling with a life-limiting illness. A mother we support at Keech.

Keech is for all of us. Mentally we feel so much better, when we visit and I talk to someone over the phone or in the hospice. They always listen very carefully, offer good advice and cater to our sons needs. We need that advice for the family, they’re always there to support us. A family we support at Keech.

I couldn’t wish for better care and everyone at Keech has helped me so much. Whilst I can’t say I’m looking forward to being an in-patient at Keech, I know that both my family and I will be well looked after and supported when the time comes. I can’t thank you enough. A patient we support at Keech.

The support I have had from Keech has made my cancer journey easier and helped me to deal with it more easily – they have taken a lot of stress away and I really look forward to coming here every fortnight – it is a strange thing to say as hospices are generally thought of as places to come to die – I am coming here to help me live a good life with the time I have left. A patient we support at Keech.
