At Side by Side, we support children with a wide range of complex and additional needs - children who rely on calm, predictable environments to feel safe, settled, and ready to learn.

During the warm summer months, our classrooms become overwhelmingly hot.

For our children, this is not simply uncomfortable.
It can be distressing, and at times, even unsafe.

Heat can trigger sensory overload, anxiety, and dysregulation. It can affect communication, behaviour, and wellbeing. Some of the children we support also cannot regulate their body temperature, making high temperatures even more dangerous.

Every child deserves to feel safe in their environment.
Every child deserves the chance to learn without physical distress.

This campaign has been created to make that possible.

We are raising funds to install air conditioning across the school, creating spaces that are calm and safe even in extreme temperatures.

A cool space is not a luxury.
