A group of amazing Phyllis Tuckwell staff known as the THE TUCKWELL TREKKERS are βgoing walkaboutβ on Sunday 19th May, to help raise funds for the βYour New Hospice Appealβ.
The team will be heading off from Headway House in Farnham (one of our temporary locations) at 9:30am and trekking to Kings Lodge in Camberley (approximately 13 miles), to our temporary In-Patient unit.
One of our colleagues, who will be on holiday, is even walking from Slovenia to Italy with her husband to support the campaign!
As many of the walkers work at Phyllis Tuckwell, they see the support and care given to our patients and families first hand, every day, and how important our work is within our community.
Phyllis Tuckwellβs βYour New Hospice Appealβ is to raise funds to build a new state-of-the-art facility.
The sponsorship we raise by completing our βhalf marathonβ (because thatβs what it is!!) will be matched by some very generous donors, meaning that every pound raised you donate (up to the campaign goal of Β£420,000) will be doubled so a great opportunity to support the THE TUCKWELL TREKKERS!
Phyllis Tuckwellβs old building was lovely, but no longer suitable to provide modern healthcare, with small rooms, narrow corridors and failing infrastructure. Also, with a growing and aging population, more of us than ever will need specialist care at the end of our lives, 80% in fact.
Phyllis Tuckwell is the only provider of specialist end-of-life care in our part of Surrey and Hampshire. They support one in three of us in our area who are facing a terminal illness, so, this new hospice, which will help thousands more people, is up to all of us to help make it happen.
The building of this new hospice will receive no Government or NHS funding, and therefore needs our help to make this fabulous new facility a reality.
Itβs not Phyllis Tuckwellβs new hospice, itβs YOURS!
Letβs do this!
Thank you for your support, from The Tuckwell Trekkers!
